Report: Charleston School District spent $9,309 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Charleston Community Unit School District 1 was down 7.1 percent from five years ago, according to the Education Daily Wire analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Coles County school district spent $10,018 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $9,309 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 2,860 to 2,681 students over the same period.

Charleston's spending in 2019-20 was 35.8 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
