Report: Highland School District spent $9,549 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Highland Community Unit School District 5 was up 6.1 percent from five years ago, according to the Education Daily Wire analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Madison County school district spent $8,996 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $9,549 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 2,911 to 2,857 students over the same period.

Highland's spending in 2019-20 was 34.1 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
