Report: Carbondale School District spent $18,244 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Carbondale Community High School District 165 was up 19.6 percent from five years ago, according to the Education Daily Wire analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Jackson County school district spent $15,249 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $18,244 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 1,037 to 988 students over the same period.

Carbondale's spending in 2019-20 was 25.9 percent higher than the state average of $14,492.
