Report: Hiawatha School District spent $12,391 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Hiawatha Community Unit School District 426 was up 17.3 percent from five years ago, according to the Education Daily Wire analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Dekalb County school district spent $10,563 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $12,391 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 550 to 442 students over the same period.

Hiawatha's spending in 2019-20 was 14.5 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
