University of Phoenix and Jobs for the Future (JFF) have announced a new initiative to pilot an AI-powered strategy for skills analysis and talent mobility. This project is part of their ongoing partnership aimed at improving workforce development.

The collaboration comes as organizations face significant changes in job skills. According to the World Economic Forum, 39% of core job skills are expected to change by 2030. Despite this, many companies do not prioritize understanding workforce skills in their business strategies. The 2025 Career Optimism Index study revealed that while 86% of workers seek skill development opportunities, employer investment in reskilling and upskilling has decreased since 2022.

Raghu Krishnaiah, Chief Operating Officer at University of Phoenix, stated: “As AI reshapes the workforce, the companies that thrive won’t necessarily be those with the best technology, but those with the most adaptable people.” He emphasized closing the gap between aspiration and action through effective implementation of a business strategy focused on necessary skills.

The project will explore how AI-enabled tools can improve employee development, retention, and mobility while addressing issues like algorithmic transparency and data accountability. JFF will conduct discovery and analysis with support from University of Phoenix. This includes piloting strategies with employers featuring diverse workforces using Skillmore, an AI skills intelligence platform affiliated with the university.

Alison Lands, Vice President of Employer & Workforce Solutions at JFF, commented: “During this critical adoption phase of AI technology platforms by companies, JFF is deeply committed to a thorough examination...to better understand employer and employee impact.”

The initiative aligns with both organizations' missions to support working adult learners. JFF aims for 75 million people facing economic barriers to have quality jobs by 2033. University of Phoenix focuses on providing access to education that helps students achieve professional goals.

Krishnaiah added: “Our work with JFF is about turning good intentions around learning and development into real...progress.” The partnership involves over 2,000 employers through Adaptable Skills Solutions offered by University of Phoenix's affiliate SkillmoreTM.

The project will run until May 2026 and conclude with a report offering insights for employers, educators, and technology developers.
