The Nevada Department of Education reported an increase in the high school graduation rate for the Class of 2025. The statewide graduation rate reached 85.4 percent, up from 81.6 percent for the previous year’s class. This year, a total of 34,175 students graduated.
Dr. Victor Wakefield, Superintendent of Public Instruction, commented on the improvement: “We saw strong gains in the graduation rate for the Class of 2025 and it’s a testament to the hard work of our students and educators,” he said. “The graduation rate for Career and Technical Education students is particularly notable and reflects the importance of providing students with access to hands-on learning opportunities to gain valuable skills and experience that can lead to high-demand careers.”
Students who completed Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs achieved a graduation rate of 98.8 percent, which was higher than any other student group. These CTE completers were enrolled in approved programs, passed required courses, and qualified to take end-of-program and workplace readiness assessments.
There was also an increase in students earning advanced diplomas or college and career ready diplomas compared with last year. For the Class of 2025, 24.3 percent earned a college and career ready diploma—an increase from 21.4 percent in 2024—and 11.6 percent earned an advanced diploma compared with 11.5 percent previously.
In terms of district performance, students in twelve out of Nevada’s seventeen school districts graduated at rates above the statewide average of 85.4 percent. Nine districts showed improvements over last year: Carson City, Churchill, Clark, Lander, Mineral, Pershing, Storey, Washoe, and White Pine counties had higher graduation rates than before.
Eight districts recorded graduation rates exceeding ninety percent.
