Megan Degenfelder State Superintendent of Public Instruction | Wyoming Department of Education

The Wyoming Department of Education is requesting public input on proposed changes to its Consolidated State Plan under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The department is accepting comments online or by mail until January 7, 2026.

According to the department, individuals can review the statement of reasons for the amendments and see strike and underline versions of the rules using the public comment form. All submitted comments will be recorded verbatim on the Secretary of State website, including each submitter’s name and city of residence, as part of the rulemaking process.

The existing ESSA plan was last approved in February 2022. Proposed updates involve adding current educator effectiveness data in line with ESSA requirements, revising Title I-D based on recent U.S. Department of Education monitoring findings, and removing outdated language and programs.

For more details about ESSA programs, additional information is available through the department’s resources.

Comments may also be mailed to Mark Bowers at the Wyoming Department of Education, 122 W. 25th St, Suite E200, Cheyenne, WY 82002.
