Students with disabilities scored 357 on average on the SAT math test at Montrose Alternative Education Center during the 2018-2019 academic year, a better result than the overall average for all students in the school, according to the Michigan Department of Educations' 2019 Michigan Merit Examination (MME).

Overall in the state, students with disabilities scored 387 on average on the SAT math test in the 2018-2019 academic year.

MME's primary purpose is to provide a snapshot of end-of-year student learning across the state.

Standardized tests such as the MME have become a point of contention in recent years. The Michigan Department of Education tried to waive the 2021 exam but the federal Department of Education denied the request. State superintendent Michael Rice claimed the federal department of education continues to demonstrate its disconnect from conditions in public schools.
