Report: Benton School District spent $9,172 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Benton Community Consolidated School District 47 was up 8.4 percent from five years ago, according to the Education Daily Wire analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Franklin County school district spent $8,464 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $9,172 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 1,233 to 1,178 students over the same period.

Benton's spending in 2019-20 was 36.7 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
