Report: Springfield School District spent $15,028 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Springfield School District 186 was up 22.3 percent from five years ago, according to the Education Daily Wire analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Sangamon County school district spent $12,287 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $15,028 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 14,893 to 13,411 students over the same period.

Springfield's spending in 2019-20 was 3.7 percent higher than the state average of $14,492.
